Sunday, June 12 was a special occasion in the life of CUCC. The Rev. David E Psttee was installed as Senior Pastor by officials of the Fox Valley Association. Pastor is the 40th pastor in the congregation’s 179 year history.
Following a year-long national search, Pastor Dave was selected by a vote of the congregation in September, and after leaving a similar post in Kent, Ohio, he began the work of his call to CUCC on January 1.
Imam Shamshad A. Nasir of the Ahmadyyia Muslim Community gave the invocation, and the Rev. Leah Robberts-Mosser delivered the sermon. The installation liturgy was delivered by Ms. Sharon Lackey, representing the Fox Valley Association Committee on Ministry, and the Rev. Dr. Jorge Morales, Illinois Conference Minister. Musical performances were given by Bellissimo Bell Choir the CUCC Chancel Choir and members of the Central High School Chorale (Jeff Nesseth, director), and CUCC member Tony Giambordino. Dennis Beiermann Music Director for CUCCC also performed on piano and organ. Kathy Brens was litergist, accompanied Jane Siarny, interplay leader and Denise Bieermann, flutist. Other clergy taking part in the service included Rev. Lucas Grobe, Hope UCC-Naperville, Rev. Patricia Kitner, CUCC, Rev. Jeffrey Phillips, Congregational UCC-Lombard, Rev. Michelle McNamara,Immanuel UCC-Evergreen Park, Rev. Timothy Rhodes, St. John’s UCC-Mokena. Rhonda Brown, vice president for advancement at Chicago Theological Seminary addressed the congregation about support of seminary students. CUCC was represented in the installation by Robert Graham, chair of the pastoral search committee, and Tom Palansky, current president of the church council.
