Support Missions by Using Manna Cards
So, what are Manna Cards and how does the program work?
Manna card Scrip fundraising is an easy-to-use program that allows families to raise money for the missions of CUCC. It is just another way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards.
You purchase gift cards from CUCC at face value, and CUCC’s coordinator orders those cards from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a reduced price. The difference is an instant rebate retained by CUCC to help fund missions. It’s really that simple! And, the church can realize thousands of mission dollars that didn’t come out of your pocket!
When you use scrip gift cards at your favorite retailers, you’re fundraising while you shop. Through Great Lakes Scrip Center, CUCC’s Manna Card program offers more than 700 of the country’s biggest retailers, including grocery, department stores, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, home improvement, and more. Just by using scrip to pay for your normal weekly purchases, you, one person or family, can easily raise $500 or more per year. It’s time to put your shopping dollars to work!
I get it. But how do I get started?
There are some options, but let’s start with the basics. Most Sundays, right after worship services, Manna volunteers staff a table in Rodgers Fellowship Hall. Bring your checkbook. Sorry, no credit cards accepted; the bank processing fees would eat up the rebate! At the Manna table, you will find an order form for the most commonly ordered cards. Fill out the form, total your order and hand it with your check to the volunteer. Your cards will be available the following Sunday! At the Manna table, you will also find some Of the most frequently requested, available for immediate purchase. For the cards in stock, you won’t have to wait. Shop the inventory to find last minute gift ideas!
If you can’t find your favorite restaurant or retailer on the order form, there are more cards available. You can look here for the Full Vendor List There are over 700. Just tell the volunteer that you want to order a card from the online list, and they will take it from there! Easy, isn’t it?
Can I order with my phone, tablet or computer? How does that work?
The easy answer is YES! The coordinators and any of the volunteers at the Manna Table can give you an access code to sign up (one time) for online ordering. Since the program is limited to members and friends of CUCC, Great Lakes asked that we not publish it on the website, but just ask. From there, you go online and follow easy prompts. You can order cards to be included in the order placed on Sunday, delivered the following Sunday. You may pay for the cards when you pick them up, or there is an option, called PrestoPay, that will let you pay for the orders from your checking account. There is a separate signup for Presto Pay, and the ShopWithScrip.com website will walk you through that.
But what if I can’t wait until Sunday? I’m going out dinner tonight, and buying a big screen TV tomorrow!
You read above about PrestoPay, right? That’s a way Manna card purchases can be paid out of your checking account, instantly. If you have PrestoPay, you can order InstantScrip from many of the restaurants, retailers, etc. and print a paper “card” within minutes. You can even specify a gift and have it emailed directly to your recipient. Finally, you can set up a Wallet app on your iPhone or Android phone where you can order and store virtual cards from many of the participating vendors. All of this is explained in clear detail on the ShopWithScrip.com website
How do I get help?
The volunteers at the Manna table on Sunday can answer a lot of your questions about the program. What they don’t know, they can find out. And if you are already signed-up on the ShopWithScrip.com website there are video tutorials and much more.
