We need to appoint a Search Committee
Nominations were received from the congregation, and the Church Council chose the team.
We need a description of our congregation
The Search Committee surveyed members and did additional research. A Church Profile was developed and submitted to the national UCC office. The full profile has been distributed to some potential candidates who show promise. Our Church Profile was completed and submitted on March 4,2015. A shorter description of CUCC and our needs from a Senior Pastor Candidate was also developed by the committee, and sent to targeted ministers who might know of a candidate, or might be a candidate her or himself.
The Search Committee will consider all potential candidates
Once the open call is posted at the UCC, candidates will ask the UCC to forward their minister profile to our Search Committee. Candidates do not apply directly, but submit through the UCC Profile Office in Cleveland and the Illinois Conference, to assure that background checks are done, and credentials are in order. To date we have received around 35 profiles and open to receiving and reviewing others.
The Search Committee will select possible candidates
The Search Committee will narrow the search to a smaller number of well qualified candidates. Some of these ministers will have preliminary interviews by Skype. We continue to be open to receiving additional profiles from qualified candidates.
The Search Committee will interview these candidates
Face to face interviews with a limited number of candidates will be conducted.
One candidate will be recommended to us
The Search Committee will present the potential candidate first to Church Council leadership, and then to the entire congregation. She or he will deliver a trial sermon in worship on Sunday, September 20, the day of a called Congregational Meeting.
We will vote on the recommended candidate
We voted in Congregational Meeting Sunday, September 20, to call the recommended candidate as our next Senior Pastor. He is expected to begin his call officially January 1, 2016 or thereabouts.
We will join in worship to install our new pastor
Sometime after the new Senior Pastor begins his or her call at CUCC, the Fox Valley Association of the Illinois Conference, UCC, will conduct an installation service in our Sanctuary.
