Members of the Search Committee

Joy Barker has been a church member for eighteen years, along with her two adult children, Ben and Brad, who grew up participating in church youth activities and summer Family Camps. As an active member of church committees, Council, Sunday school teaching, Bible study, etc., she has developed a love for this church that many others share. She works at Ball Horticultural in West Chicago and is honored to serve on the pastoral search committee.

Dave Beckman and his family have been active members of the church for the past fifteen years, serving as committee members, Confirmation leaders, Dinner Club participants, Family Camp attendees, and Puppet Troupe performers. They’ve been blessed to have their two children grow up with such an open, caring church family. It is important to Dave that future generations have the same experiences they’ve had. He’s honored to be part of a team committed to continuing our tradition of strong church leadership.

Kelly Gagne and her husband have lived in the St. Charles area for fifteen years. She has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked in the elevator and appliance industries for fifteen years until the birth of their daughter (2007) and son (2008). Their children attended Swing Set Preschool from 2010-2014 and Kelly was a member of the Swing Set Board from 2011-2014. She currently is Trustee of the Town and Country Public Library. Kelly was raised Roman Catholic and has found solace in the openness and community spirit of STCUCC. Her family joined the church in September 2014.

Bob Graham has been married to Anne for forty-seven years; they have two children, Jeff (our church’s youth director) and Mindy. Bob was employed by the St. Charles School District for thirty-four years (he taught 5th grade for three years, was an elementary principal for twenty-one years, and the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel for ten years). The Grahams have been members of our church for more than forty-three years. Bob has served on boards, taught Sunday school, and was a past Moderator. “All families of our church are very special to us.”

Ted Hardison has been married to his wife, Lynne, for forty-seven years; they have a daughter, Jennifer (married to JD) and four grandkids; they also have a son, Jon; both their children were confirmed STCUCC. Ted had a career in banking for forty-six years; twenty-six of those years as a CEO. He has been involved in community and social memberships where he has taken leadership roles. He has been a church member since the late 1970s; serving as Moderator, Council President, Stewardship Endowment leader, and Church Financial Coordinator along with committees duties and mission work.

Allison Kurtz and her husband Ed have been members of CUCC for just over ten years. They live in Geneva with their children Bryn (10) and John (9), both of whom are part of the Happy Hearts youth choir. In addition to her work as an Executive VP with a public relations firm in Chicago, Allison enjoys singing and has appeared in numerous musicals throughout the Chicagoland area. She also is a member of the Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties.

Mike Linder is lifelong member of CUCC. He’s a retired teacher and labor representative, past Church Council member, and he served on the search committee that called Rev. Dr. Rodgers. He is also past moderator of the Fox Valley Association UCC and currently serves on FVA’s Committee on Ministry. Mike is active at the Illinois Conference level, as delegate to General Synod, and currently serves the Conference Personnel Committee, the Fitness Review Response Team, and as vice-president of the Illinois Conference.

Meredith Reber is a freshman in high school, and has been attending this church for nine years. She was confirmed last year, and is an active member in GF and was previously in the puppet troupe. Meredith thinks it’s important that kids in future years will have many opportunities and activities within our church to form their own beliefs as well as learn from others about our church.

Jan Roman has been a church member for five years, Worship committee member for two years, and currently sings in the choir. She has participated in many church activities. She is active in several positions in the service organization Altrusa International of the Fox Valley. Jan has resided in the Fox Valley for thirty-three years, currently living and working in Geneva as a dental hygienist.

Nancy Scorby’s family joined the CUCCSTC after moving to St. Charles in 2001. She served on the Mission Committee and is a member of Church Council. Nancy will be Council President in 2015. She and her husband, Tom, have two children: Emily and Sam. Emily is newly graduated from Loyola, and Sam is currently attending University of Missouri. She has owned a travel agency for nine years, and has been a travel consultant for over 30 years. Nancy looks forward to our church challenges in 2015!

Steven Sidor and his wife, Lisa, joined the church in 2008. His family is actively involved in church life from puppet troupe and teaching Sunday school, to Family Camp, Kerygma Bible Study, and Novel Approaches. Steven is the chair of the Christian Education committee. He is the author of four suspense novels, and is writing the fifth.

John Speck has been a member of CUCC along with his wife and two children for ten years and involved with the UCC for more than twenty-five. John has been on the Christian Education committee, was a Council representative to the Congregational Life committee, was Stewardship Chair for two years, and is the current Council President. He enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, working outside, antiques, and bicycling.

Chelsey Trembley’s grandparents are Chuck and Sally Harvey, and their church membership allowed her to grow up in this church and have the opportunities to participate in many youth education outlets, from Swing Set preschool to participating as a young adult leader with the high school youth group, and everything imaginable in between. She is honored to be on this committee and have the chance to grow our church for the generations to come.
