Pastor Dave to Lead Monday Evening Conversations on Race
David Pattee, CUCC senior pastor, is leading a series of open conversations about race this fall.
From the very origins of the United States down to the present day, and for the foreseeable future, race matters. In our rich diversity and creative capacity as Americans, in the burdens of injustice that weigh us down and the barriers of prejudice that hold us back, in our religious, political, social, cultural and economic life, race matters. Effective leadership, especially religious leadership, requires that we deal honestly with matters of race.
It is not too late to join. The group will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays, September 19 through November 14, at the Old Towne Pub, 40W290 LaFox Rd. Participants are expected to read, The End of White Christian America, by Robert P. Jones, a trenchant and timely analysis of “how seismic change [in matters of race and religion have] profoundly altered the politics and social values of the United States.” Discussions will follow the outline of the book which can be ordered from Amazon, and is widely available in bookstores.
